#sketchbook December 2021. #deadcombo is a group whose music I have enjoyed for quite some time. Intrinsically Portuguese yet completely beyond borders; fado, Nick Cave noir, Morricone western soundtracks, hellbilly, chamber jazz, post rock, and whatever the hell else they decided pull into a coherent, dark and dangerous interior universe made great listening for the adventurous. One half of that duo, #PedroGonçalves, has passed, and the world is slightly less for it. #art #mastoart #drawing

#DeadCombo is a band that amalgamated a sound from blues, fado, Morricone Western gunslinger soundtracks, post-punky dirges a la Nick Cave, and whatever other nuggets of strange they could put together (they've worked with Mark #Lanegan of Screaming Trees, Alain Johannes of #QOTSA, and Marc #Ribot in equal measure) into an almost carnival atmosphere of "what if David Lynch and Charles #Bukowski started a band?"
