Forcing this on the world is pointless, as it can easily be bypassed (fake ID pictures, VPNs, sneakernet, bad content detection algorithms) but at the same time, it makes it harder, if not impossible, for sites like the Wayback Machine to work properly, as they can't automatically bypass every age verification block (if they could, then most users would have software that could do this, and these laws would be defeated, and less effective than prohibition laws were at any point) These laws are actively destroying the open web, and yet, they won't even go after the actual problem. Additionally, Musk has not only allowed this to happen, he has embraced it, and publicly promoted it numerous times. This was not an accident. There can be only one response: Block the #deadbirdsite in the EU, and while that's in the works, an unequivocal recommendation by the @EUCommission to its citizens to stop using it immeadeately.
Ofcourse this is exactly what musk wants. Financially, his company is already worthless. Now he can blame Europe for its failure, and create more rage towards Europe as a bonus.
Nonetheless, it had to be done. Now.

Given that the exodus largely involved a certain type of person, a lack of diversity isn't stemming the hate.

A new analysis suggests that the rate of hate speech on X was about 50 percent higher for several months after Elon Musk purchased the social media platform than in prior months, and the amount of bot and bot-like accounts did not decline. Daniel Hickey of the University of California, Berkeley, U.S., and colleagues present these findings in the open-access journal PLOS One on February 12, 2025.

My Head’s Exploding 🤯 💥Man hätte die #DeadBirdSite in der #EU und den #USA sperren sollen, so lange man noch konnte. Nun könnte es in der Tat zu spät dafür sein.
Es gibt jedoch noch andere Möglichkeiten, #Demokratien #MilliardärSicher zu machen. Abgesehen von einer #Reichensteuer in Form einer #Milliardärsteuer sind dies auch #ParteispendenBegrenzungen.
