This is a gentle strum, a quiet summer's day on the bank of a river. Which is absolutely fine, but it's not the Deacon Blue we were expecting. The band have grown up, matured, they're more albums than singles now.
The coroner recorded an open verdict into the possible causes of death of Ricky Ross. Any of three factors could have contributed: your cares, your misanthropy, your distant gaze.
I still love listening to this album after more than 35 years, but every time "Chocolate Girl" comes on I hear my friend David's big sister Alison pouring on the big-sister scorn about the chorus lyrics. 😆
Shortly afterwards we left to travel to the Julian Cope concert at the Dominion, in Town.
