Forschungsdatenprovider, Repositorien und FDZ sind längst zu einem Grundbestandteil der #OpenScience Transformation im deutschen Wissenschaftssystems geworden. Allein in @re3data sind mehr als 500 Einträge mindestens einer deutschen Organisation zugeordnet. Diese Vielfalt deutet zum einen auf die fachliche Breite hin, zum anderen aber auch auf die Herausforderung von Base4NFDI, übergreifende Dienste für eine Deutsche #Forschungsdateninfrastruktur anzubieten.

Diese Aufgabe wird von unserer Forschungsgruppe am @DZHW sozialwissenschaftlich begleitet. Durch die #WiBef konnten wir dabei bereits Perspektiven von über 6000 Forschenden in Deutschland zur @NFDI sammeln.

Ab heute startet die qualitative Befragung von Vertreter*innen Deutscher Forschungsdatenrepositorien. Dabei möchten wir zum einen mehr über die Bedeutung der Basisdienste für die Repositorien lernen. Zum anderen wollen wir uns aber auch wissenschaftssoziologisch der Frage nähern, welche epistemische Bedeutung diese Akteure im Wissenschaftssystem von morgen haben.

My team is busy setting up some #S3 storage for a #DataRepository on academic servers (not Amazon, Google or Azure). I know what we want.and the ways we want it to support good data engineering, FAIR metadata, semantic linkages, policy-driven migration of data to colder storage, access control, embargo periods, etc.

I'd like to know if there is a #FOSS solution (or possibly a commercial one that is not deeply enshittified) that would deliver most of what we need and that could be extended with additional features as we need them. I'm looking at CKAN and possible S3 extensions, but I'd like to know of other possibilities.

If any of you have built such a solution, I'd love to know the choices you made.
