How are we approaching identification, selection and #appraisal in #digitalpreservation right now? Which reference documents are we using? And what does 'long-term' mean anyway? 🤔
The #EOSC EDEN team did a survey - I've blogged about our findings here: https://codata.org/blog/2026/03/10/digital-preservation-eosc-eden-project-reports-survey-findings/

Update on the Public Information Archive (aka the crowdfunded torrent server dishing up all the stuff the Epstein Regime deleted, and then some).

It's been operating 24/7 seeding data for 125 days straight (many more than that overall but since I rebooted).

If you know of an endangered government data, send it my way. 6TB left...

As an Internet Archive user, I scour the Web and turn up mainly software and computer data for preservation. For some time now, I have been trying to locate all the files that were ever uploaded to insaneheat.com and tuxracer.fubaby.com, two defunct fan sites for the racing games #1nsane and Tux Racer, respectively. If anyone has all the files stored somewhere, I would greatly appreciate it and remember to leave an attribution.

Quick update on the crowd-funded solar-powered t-girl operated public information server (aka antifa server). Things are going strong, torrents are seeding.

The next torrent addition will be the latest Epstein files dump. The data being served up comes from https://sciop.net/datasets/.

Backing up Spotify

We backed up Spotify (metadata and music files). It’s distributed in bulk torrents (~300TB). It’s the world’s first “preservation archive” for music which is fully open (meaning it can easily be mirrored by anyone with enough disk space), with 86 million music files, representing around 99.6% of listens.

First time I've come across Anna's Archive, and only because of this news about scraping and backing up Spotify metadata and music files.

It's an open source search engine for shadow libraries, aggregating records from Z-Library, Sci-Hub, LibGen, and others. 👀
