Ganz am Ende von Marcel Fratzschers Vortrag auf der re:publica26 geht es um zwei Gesellschaftsentwürfe und eine Frage, die für die heutige Zeit wahrscheinlich wichtiger ist, als alle anderen:

Gesellschaften, die einen hohen Wert auf Zusammenhalt, Schutz der Verletzlichsten Gruppen, auf Solidarität, auf Unterstützung auf Gemeinschaft legen, können große Transformationen besser bewältigen.«

Juhuu! Jahrelang verschollen - endlich wiedergefunden!

Das #Buch habe ich 2014 in #Südamerika im Büchertauschregal eines Hostels bekommen und als Vorbereitung unseres anstehenden #Galapagos-Besuchs angefangen. Bis zur "Origin of Species" war ich noch gar nicht gekommen, ich stecke noch mitten in der Reise der "Beagle".

Ein Lesegenuss, #Darwin schreibt wunderschönes #Englisch und betrachtet die Welt mit der Neugier eines Kindes und der Präzision eines Forschers.

That time Nightwish asked Darwin to sing

There is an envelope, somewhere in England, bearing the handwriting of a Finnish musician. Inside is a proposal that, told in the abstract, sounds like the joke of a drunk poet: a symphonic metal band asks one of the planet's best-known evolutionary biologists to lend his voice to a twenty-four-minute song about the origin of life.

To understand how two worlds this far apart – the guitar and the ribosome, the double bass drum and the DNA – ended up in the same track, you have to start from a biographical detail almost nobody knows. Tuomas Holopainen, the man who has always written Nightwish's music, studied biology before becoming a full-time musician.
