I have moderate knitting skills and very little understanding of sewing terminology, but can probably do anything I am able to look up.

It's cotton and viscose, and I'm fine with it being all black since the white slub probably isn't replicable. I don't know what thread/yarn I need, or what tools.

I also have some fingering weight rainbows I would like the look of if superwash merino wouldn't warp too much?

Do you darn your socks? I'd thought it was a thing done in centuries past. But I heard a modern person mention it like it was a normal thing to do. (To be fair, I've only heard a modern person say this *once*.)

I do have a problem with socks getting holes in the heels before they're otherwise used up. Should I be darning them? How?
