Selon des chercheurs de Google et des sociétés de cybersécurité, quelque 300 millions de smartphones de la marque Apple seraient menacés par des pirates informatiques qui utilisent une nouvelle technique. Grâce à celle-ci, il suffirait de surfer sur un site “infecté” pour se faire voler un grand nombre de données.

Regarding Apple’s decision to not release iOS 18.7.4 for iPhones that support iOS 26, there’s a nice paragraph (57) in the Cyber Resilience Act:

“To improve the transparency of vulnerability handling processes and to ensure that users are not required to install new functionality updates for the sole purpose of receiving the latest security updates, manufacturers should ensure, where technically feasible, that new security updates are provided separately from functionality updates.“

You do have to wonder, given how horrible and hated #tahoe and #liquidglass is, whether this new #darksword security threat to older #ios versions has been engineered by #Apple to force people to upgrade their #iphone to #ios26.

I finally did the thing and updated to #iOS26 due to the #DarkSword malware and #Apple’s appalling decision to not offer #iOS18 security updates to devices capable of running iOS 26. I’m really salty about it. It makes zero sense (especially for managed corporate devices that may not be ready to update) and is dangerous.
