Jenny Wagner is someone I didn’t expect to meet but I’m glad I did. She proves theorems about what the data can’t tell you. Then she shows where the standard model of cosmology silently fills gaps with assumptions. She calls it “CSI cosmology”: start from the evidence, not from the theory you like. It’s super interesting.
What’s even more astounding is the cross‑disciplinary impact of this sort of approach. It may have drastic impact in particle physics, and even in cancer research. This goes beyond AI / traditional machine learning (she has a PhD in machine learning actually).
In fact, a quantum chemistry thesis she read cracked a 30‑year‑old degeneracy problem in gravitational lensing that cosmologists couldn’t solve staying inside cosmology.

Had another great day working in the underground laboratory at #SNOLAB. I joined my PICO #darkmatter detector colleagues on a few projects, including operations improvements for the ongoing PICO-40L experiment and some efforts to support construction steps for the forthcoming PICO-500 detector. It was great to support the underground team as they work toward milestones on both experiments.

I’ve already seen Andromeda (I think the fifth series is rubbish – I've seen to middle of fifth season), Farscape (I really ought to carry on watching it, but it hasn’t aged well), Lost in Space (2018), Killjoys (it’s a bit different), Origin (I find it boring).
The AI would also suggest The 100, which is obviously something completely different and also rubbish (I wasted my time watching it up to the middle of season 5).
