π§ββοΈπ¬π§ A series of rough-cut stone pillars and massive blocks of millstone grit emerge from a conifer forest in North Yorkshire. While the site appears to be an ancient ritual ground featuring a central altar and standing stones, it is actually a 19th-century folly built to imitate a prehistoric monument. This interesting place is the site of several curious folklore tales and spooky happenings!

β€οΈβπ₯Going out in Art Deco style! This 1920s crematorium in Romania has bold geometric design, picked out by black tiles set against white surrounding tiles. The overall design inspired by the Art Deco movement of the time: clean lines, geometric forms, and a sense of grandeur.

Igreja de Nossa Senhora da SaΓΊde (Church Of Our Lady Of Health), Serpa, Portugal
Inside this Portuguese cemetery lies a Baroque gem. The old chapel had a gold-gilded altar and polychrome tiled walls. A small wooden door leads to a hidden ossuary, a place filled with ornate wooden caskets. The carved boxes containing bones are blanketed in dust. A hauntingly beautiful reflection on mortality.
