Anyway, Dark Political Science Lore #1 is:

Capitalism/Conservatism *needs* religious fanaticism to run rampant, unchecked through society, because Capitalism literally needs the people to be psychologically mutilated into the state of being comfortable with Cognitive Dissonance.

Why?
Because Capitalism is 100% a type of insanity. It is insane to think that exponential growth can continue forever in a finite world.

In order to carry on aiding & abetting the lunacy of Capitalism workday after workday, a worker needs to learn to ignore the wailing klaxon of Cognitive Dissonance that constantly screams "Capitalism is Utterly Wrong". The workers are taught this skill to suppress logic and reason by their religions.

Religion is 100% a type of insanity. It is insane to deny reality in favour of a delusion.

Capitalism literally *needs* the majority of people to have their brains wrapped in chains that are held in place with giant nails, in order to accept the madness of its endless, boundless greed.

Capitalism needs workers to have consciously given up their free will, so that they are perfectly trained little working meat robots.

That's the real reason that governments are happy for religion to ooze its poison into schools. Gotta get 'em while they're young, to continue the production line creating fresh mindless meat robots for the Capitalist grinder.
