Dappled Cities was an Australian alternative pop rock band from the 2000s.
They were great live and they had a respectable few albums here, so not quite a fizzle. But I always thought their quirky take on guitar pop-rock should have received a much larger audience.
I still want to live in the parallel universe where they are in fact huge.
The Dappled Cities love-in continues with Miniature Alas, from the 2009 album Zounds.

So excited to discover that Australian band Dappled Cities released a new EP late last year and they've since performed a few live gigs. I was captivated by them the first time I saw them play on a TV variety show, and the trio of Granddance, Zounds and Lake Air are among my favourite albums.
For me they are the best of alternative pop: joyous, unique and with a dash of weirdness that is always intriguing.
