The same day we did the beautiful Peter Ostroushko compositions with the string section, #DannyGotham and I performed a few duet pieces. He we are doing the lovely #Irish #folk song Si Bheag Si Mhor—“Little Fairy Mound, Big Fairy Mound.” I’m playing a #Godin Multiac nylon string.
My friend and bandmate #DannyGotham was a member of the #RacquetteRiverRounders, a legendary folk and bluegrass act from near Rochester, NY. They return to Saratoga Springs each Boxing Day to perform. During the worst of the pandemic he and John Kribs had me engineer an online show. After some tricky editing to sync their videos, it turned out pretty well!

I transcribed the guitar for pt 1 from the original. I actually only got the music for pt 2 a few days before the performance. Fortunately it wasn’t very hard. E. Scott Warren w the unforgettable #fretless #bass part.

The final tune at 8:03 is Peter’s masterpiece composition for #mandolin, #SacredHeart, complete with fretless bass, piano, and strings. The first three in the video are E Ku ‘u Morning Dew, Si Beag Si Mhor, and Peter’s Medicine Bow. Audio quality is poor but performance is good.

When Danny was a young man he finished as runner up in the #NationalFingerpickingChampionship in #Winfield, but he’s hell on wheels with a flatpick, too.

A few years ago #DannyGotham and I recorded this #ChetAtkins #BucketList tune for his album de Colores. I had always wanted to lay down something in the style of #LesPaul and this was my chance. Danny of course is one of the finest #FingerPicking players in the country. I only have a still shot of Danny during the session but I had the camera rolling when I cut my parts. I’m playing both parts during the breaks.
Had my bandmate #DannyGotham in the studio this past weekend. He laid down 4 #guitar tracks of one of his #BucketList tunes, Jaya Shiva Shankara by #JohnFahey. The main track is using an #OpenC tuning, the remaining 3 in standard.
Danny was the runner up in the 1980 National #Fingerpicking Championship.
What the #Kauer #Banshee sounds like. I’m using the Banshee on all of the fills and my solo turns. Guitar is super light, made of Spanish cypress. Nice warm Wolftone humbuckers.
