Unorthodox (1992) muestra a Edge of Sanity expandiendo el death metal sueco. Dan Swanö incorpora tempos medios, pasajes doom y acústicos sin perder la densidad Sunlight. Destaca el uso de voces limpias y susurros junto a guturales, algo poco común entonces. El disco es irregular por sus cambios de estilo, pero valiente. Sentó bases para el death progresivo melódico posterior.

Today I learnt of the re-release of one of my all favourite records. #DanSwanö completed the re-mixing and re-master of the landmark #Crimson LP, recorded in 1996 #EdgeOfSanity. In my view this is one of the best #Rock works ever recorded. It has everything: overwhelming and fierce sections, introspective and soothing segments and loads of melody. The leitmotif melody slowly mutates throughout the record, in what is a rather unique approach to rock music.
