The year 2024 was a year full of achievements and progress for the #Parch project. in that year, we successfully ported Parch to two different architectures: AArch64 (ARM64) and RISC-V. This not only expanded the reach of Parch but also made it possible to use it on a variety of devices. Additionally, we managed to run Parch on mobile devices such as the PinePhone and PocoPhone F1, which was a significant step toward expanding Parch into the mobile world.
Structurally, we also made extensive changes to Parch. One of the most important changes was replacing GRUB with systemd-boot. This change not only improved the system's boot speed but also laid a more solid foundation for future development. Furthermore, we took the first steps toward adding support for Secure Boot. This feature allows users, especially our dear #Gamers, to enjoy games that use kernel-level anti-cheat without any issues. These advancements demonstrate our commitment to providing a secure and smooth experience for Parch users.
In 2025, we have ambitious plans for the Parch project. Our main goal is to make Parch accessible on more devices. This will require collaboration and participation from the community of users and developers. In the mobile sector, a project codenamed #Damavand is under development, aiming to support a wide range of mobile devices. To facilitate this process, we will provide the necessary tools and documentation for porting devices from other Linux distributions. Additionally, comprehensive documentation for porting devices from scratch to Parch will be published, making it easier for developers to contribute to this process.
Moreover, we have plans to support ARM-based devices. This includes Apple devices with Apple Silicon processors as well as devices based on Snapdragon X Elite. Our goal is to turn Parch into a versatile operating system that can run on a wide range of hardware.
Alongside these efforts, we are focused on improving the user experience and increasing system stability. We, the Parch developers, are working on optimizing Parch's performance on various devices to ensure users have the best possible experience. We are also looking to grow the community of Parch users and developers and welcome any contributions and collaborations.
