The pale bands are rich in fine-grained muscovite; the dark bands also have chlorite. The few rusty spots mark the position of pyrite crystals.

I don't know what a Dalradian rock is, and trying to find out led me to a morass of geologist-speak. But this explanation of the #Dalradian #Supergroup made me smile.
