If you're ever craving that personal pan frozen microwave pizza you may or may not have eaten at school but can't eat gluten, Daiya's dairy-free oat cream-based cheese gluten-free pizza tastes exactly the same and has (mostly) the same consistency if you cook it at 420โฐF for 22 minutes and add a good amount of dairy mozzarella cheese on top. It's not my favorite gluten-free frozen pizza, but it fills the gap and takes me back.

#vegan pizza. #homemade crust. Normally would have a homemade cashew "mozzarella", but I used #daiya cheese 'cause it was under three bucks on sale. The protein is #traderjoes Italian "sausage". There's also diced button mushrooms, sauteed peppers, and some onions that I caramelized as my wife requested them (and they're delicious). Used the Tunisian olive oil in the background. It was much more affordable than the Italian stuff right now due to, among other things, #climatechange . Tastes good!
Bought some #Daiya parmesan cheese today for our spaghetti dinner and they sure got it down...right to the stink. It's been so long since we have used real cheese of any kind that I forgot how smelly Parmesan cheese is.
I was talking to a few people who have tried the new #Daiya formula cheese. None of them are impressed. They don't like the flavor or texture. They said it melts a bit without being sticky, but that could have been achieved with the original by adding some oil to the meal. Their consensus was they ruined a great product line for one use of their cheese. They mostly buy other products now.

Also a cheese junkie, but I will say the #daiya cheese substitutes I've tried have been passable as cheese so I'm encouraged to keep at it and try more.

I think it's also important to note that sometimes it isn't about finding substitutes, but rather different meals entirely that don't relay on problematic foods or their substitutes.

A recent impetus to test some of the #daiya cheeses has lead me to check out their gouda earlier and now their feta. The texture was more like a mozzarella and while I appreciated what tasted like a reduction in salt compared to a typical feta, by itself it was no comparison; not bad, but not "feta". However, in a falafel pita it was decent and I could get used to it. Room for improvement, but better than without IMO.

On your recommendation we tried the gouda in a mac+cheese. The taste was a fair approximation of gouda, but in the M&C it was..different; not bad, just different than expected. It was a good meal though and I expect it will be a repeat. That's one dish we can happily replace cheese with #daiya with. I look forward to seeing how the 'feta' turns out with falafels.

Yoooo, went to a different bargain mart today in another city and found they also carried this: Daiya grilling cheeze, and friends it is absolutely the best of the 4 daiya cheezes I've tried. I ate a package of it over the course of an hour. The stiffness feels entirely appropriate to this one and flavor is legit.
