A reminder that this #DaitoRyu seminar is coming up this Saturday in Helsinki! Don’t miss it.
Thoroughly recommend the upcoming #DaitoRyu #Aikijujutsu seminar in Helsinki (Daito Ryu being the precursor of #aikido and #hapkido). Organised by the #Sasuga dojo, they are one of the few places on the planet that still does this Japanese #jujutsu in the oldschool ways. It's eye-opening practise that benefits whatever martial art you do.
The theme this time is combinations, counter-techniques and randori.
31.1 13:00–, at VMA Helsinki (Vellamonkatu 30).
Last Saturday the #Sasuga dojo celebrated 30 years of #DaitoRyu Aikijujutsu in Finland (the parent art of #aikido — one of Sasuga's senseis introduced it to the country). An amazing event with people from over the decades, food created by renowned Korean chef Joon, a large trailer sauna, courtesy of #Palosauna, and a special batch of beer made by #HIISI, branded 'Aiki' — with a label design by yours truly.
On the Sunday after I, uhm, did not go to practise...
Huh, I hit 100% in the #MartialProfile app ‘fitness gauge’. I’ll take that win, regardless of whether it’s actually true or not :D
Have anyone tried practising aikido-kind (or similar) techniques against kickboxing (or any street style fighting) punches and kicks?
especially the real speed punches?
incl. series of punches?
it sounds like extremely interesting "don´t try this at home" thing to do 😂😂
do people practise someting like this? especially here in Finland?
(without going down on the floor for bjj or at least without choking)

@3morereps oh and in relation to #aikido, #DaitoRyu is very clearly related. So not something 'completely different'. But curriculum is larger than what is usually taught in aikido and, yes, approach is a bit different.
I find their Sasuga's seminars inform my aikido to a great amount. In other words: I better understand what I'm (supposed to be) doing in aikido. The core.
At the same time, the flow in aikido is sometimes very enjoyable.
