Don’t know where i found this biography by Bob Reece, it seems to be out of print, but there are other biogs about #DaisyBates in library land if people are curious… her “The Passing of the Aborigines” (1944) was actually on one of my school reading lists one year. Her attitudes are archaic, patronising (and seriously whack) but we must never forget her influence on policy and public attitudes was profound.

I’m in no position to assess the value of any genealogies she recorded, and i can’t criticise anyone who has trouble finding steady work if there is no Sennalink funding, but the woman was definitely dishonest, opportunistic, and in the end would say anything to sell a newspaper article. While some white anthropologists were biased (eurocentric thinkers) Daisy Bates was just a barefaced liar.
