They Tried to Bury Us - Clare Sands

The video, which was filmed on Beann Mhadagáin (Cave Hill) in Belfast, County Antrim was directed and filmed by twin sisters Kasia and Liadain Kaminska. It features Mustafa Al-Saidi, founder of Belfast Dabke, who was taught by his father Osama. Osama was tragically killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza in August 2025, along with Mustafa's brother Yousef.

Palestinian Dabke Workshop with Fadi Waked in Berlin

For many Palestinians, Dabke is more than just a dance. It is an expression of cultural identity, resilience and solidarity.

In Palestine, it is danced at weddings, celebrations and protests as a sign of joie de vivre and collective perseverance.

Dabke also plays an important role in the diaspora: it connects generations, preserves traditions and creates a sense of home, no matter where you live.

At the same time, it also invites people without a Palestinian background to join in and immerse themselves in the rhythm.

Fadi is a Palestinian-Syrian dancer, choreographer and artist who lives in Berlin and works internationally. In his performances – including his solo ‘A Ticket to Another Migration’ – he deals with themes such as identity, movement and migration.

Palästinensische Dabke Workshop mit Fadi Waked in Berlin

Dabke ist für viele Palästinenser*innen mehr als nur ein Tanz. Er ist Ausdruck von kultureller Identität, Widerstandskraft und Zusammenhalt.

In Palästina wird er bei Hochzeiten, Festen und Protesten getanzt, als Zeichen der Lebensfreude und des kollektiven Durchhaltens.

Auch in der Diaspora spielt Dabke eine wichtige Rolle: Er verbindet Generationen, bewahrt Traditionen und schafft ein Gefühl von Zuhause, egal wo man lebt.

Zugleich lädt er auch Menschen ohne palästinensische Biografie dazu ein, mitzutanzen und in den Rhythmus einzutauchen.

Este domingo 20 de julio termina el Brunch Elektronik en Trinitat Vella, y esperamos que sea la última sesión de la historia de este festival que financia el genocidio del pueblo Palestino.

Cada domingo de este mes, hemos estado luchando contra el festival gentrificador que está vinculado con el genocidio del pueblo palestino. No les hemos dejado que hagan sus fiestas con tranquilidad en nuestro barrio. Hemos soportado represalias y represión: en estas protestas, la policía ha sido violenta, nos ha robado material como megáfonos, y nos ha impedido manifestarnos por miedo de que pongamos altavoz a la heroica resistencia Palestina.

Con orgullo y placer les invitamos a merendar y celebrar el final de este festival sionista. Frente a la privatización del espacio público, lucha y comunidad en la plaza.

El barrio no se vende! Hasta el fin de la ocupación sionista! Palestina vencerá!
