[ Filmmaker Dirk Laabs' research shows that soldiers and veterans pose a particularly great danger - in the USA, France, Germany, Spain and Russia. Former and active soldiers network globally and are potential assassins. Right-wing extremist mercenaries also represent a danger. This group is potentially even more threatening - due to their combat experience, access to weapons and professional networks. WORLD WHITE HATE unveils the parallels and overlaps between these very different right-wing extremist groups.
How can right-wing terror be countered and stopped? What can be done to protect democratic society, people and state institutions from right-wing terror?
Filmed in the UK, Scandinavia and Brazil, WORLD WHITE HATE charts the development of the threat posed by right-wing terror. It is exacerbated by populist politicians such as Donald Trump and radical right-wing parties.
The documentary WORLD WHITE HATE by Dirk Laabs analyzes the mechanisms of radicalization and discusses possible counter-strategies for democratic societies. The central question remains: “How can we win the digital and real battle against increasing violence from the right?” ]

Journey to the center of the Earth | DW Documentary
m.youtube.com/watch?v=oDpEXTk-…
Journey to the Center of the Earth” has lost none of its fascination to this day. In Jules Verne's fantastic novel, people set off on a scientific expedition to the center of the earth in 1863.
The French author Jules Verne skillfully weaves together scientific findings and fiction to create an adventure novel that continues to inspire generations of artists, filmmakers and scientists to this day.
What is behind Jules Verne's stories? What do we know about the center of the Earth? Has science succeeded in making the journey that the writer envisioned? What journeys have scientists successfully made into the depths of the Earth?
Today, technological progress offers geologists, biochemists and seismologists new opportunities to reach the center of the Earth. Two scientific expeditions, in Iceland and the Sultanate of Oman, attempt to uncover the secrets of the Earth's interior, mirroring the mythical scenes from Jules Verne's imaginary tale.
The documentary shows how literature and science feed into one another, inspire our imagination and can still hold surprises to this day.

The Ahmadiyya #Muslim community in #Erfurt, Thuringia has around 100 members, so their planned #mosque is not particularly large. Nevertheless, the construction project has been met with fierce opposition from some residents.
Suleman Malik is the spokesperson of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Erfurt, which is building a new mosque in an industrial area on the outskirts of the Thuringian city. It’s the first new Muslim place of worship to be built in the former GDR. Opponents have been staging regular protests in front of the site for years. The mosque’s construction has been delayed again and again, with building companies facing intimidation online. #Christian churches in Thuringia are standing by the Muslim community, as is State Premier Bodo Ramelow, who was first elected to the position in 2014. But the mood in the state has become increasingly hostile, with #political rhetoric getting more and more harsh. In recent state elections, the right-wing #AfD emerged as the strongest party. Can Suleman Malik stand up to the anti-Muslim sentiment?

War in Lebanon - Beirut's first responders on the front line | DW Documentary
youtube.com/watch?v=v2WAPA7NgV…
Daily airstrikes hit the southern suburbs of the #Lebanese capital #Beirut. The #Israeli #military says they are aimed at destroying #Hezbollah command centers and weapons storage facilities - located in a suburb, home to several hundred thousand people.
The Israeli strikes are also taking a growing toll on the civilian population, with hundreds left dead or injured, and around 1.2 million people now internally displaced. This #film features #firefighters and rescue workers belonging to a non-Hezbollah-affiliated civil protection organization. They put their lives on the line as they work around the clock - extinguishing one fire after the next and recovering the injured and the dead from the rubble left by airstrikes.
Whenever Israeli drones are seen approaching, they have to cease operations and seek safety. A team of journalists films the #firefighters at work in the devastated southern suburbs of Beirut. The firefighters take them on their scooters to immediately document the damage inflicted on streets in a part of town considered a Hezbollah stronghold.
With camera crews normally prohibited here, the team follows doctors and first-responders as they see to the injured casualties. The film shows the widespread suffering among a civilian population living on the front line in the ongoing #conflict.
Around 1,200 people in #Israel were killed in the #Hamas terror attacks on 7 October 2023. The Israeli leadership's war against the terrorist organization continues to this day. According to the Hamas-run health authority in the #Gaza Strip, over 43,000 #Palestinians have subsequently been killed there - over half of them reportedly women and children. Hamas is allied with Hezbollah, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the #EU and has been launching almost daily rocket attacks on Israel for the past 12 months.
