Today in Labor History February 12, 1889: Antonín Dvořák's Jakobín premiered at the National Theater in Prague. The three-act opera was one of Dvořák's peasant operas. Marie Červinková-Riegrová wrote the libretto, based on the story "At the Ducal Court," by Alois Jirásek. In the story, the Count disowns his son, Bohuš, for his alleged ties with the French Revolutionaries known as Jacobins.

I use an HHKB with blank keys and a Dvorak layout at work, and I've used it long enough to have no issues typing on it. It's just that every once in a while, like once a month, I get really confused as to why I can't seem to hit *any* keys correctly. It usually turns out that I'm accidentally resting my fingers one key too far left or right (and I'm not, after all, having a stroke).

#MSWindows complaint:

1) add #dvorak layout
2) switch to dvorak layout
3) lock screen
4) when unlocking, keyboard is switched back to qwerty
5) after unlocking, desktop keyboard is qwerty

Why can't it just stay dvorak? If someone clicks "other user", is it that hard to switch to qwerty then?

@bojidar_bg I doubt it'll ever happen. I just thought I'd put it out there. While I'm a Neovim user, I don't know anything about developing it. I'm now wondering if it would be possible set it up so that the current functionality could be remapped to an alternate keyboard layout.

Imagine a world where it's as easy as downloading the source and then on the compile step you just add —dvorak or —colemak to the switches.

New Text Editor Idea: Dvorim (Dvorak + Neovim).

Vi (also Vim and Neovim) are powerful modal editors. But they're designed around QWERTY. So if you wanted to change to Dvorak, then the navigation keys hjkl are no longer convenient. The “home row" keys get moved. The little changes prevent switching to Dvorak

Dvorim would be an interesting editor. We have the 50 years of experience since Vi was created to improve the modal editing experience with a better keyboard layout
