The time to speak up is now! There will be a No Kings Protest from 12:00-2:00PM on Saturday, March 28 on St. James Park (180 N. First Street). The Santa Clara County Democratic Party is hosting a pre-protest gathering from 10:00-11:30AM on Saturday, March 28 at the Democratic Headquarters, 2901 Moorpark Ave., San Jose, CA 95128. Come and meet other activists pre-protest. Have a snack and grab a bottle of water to take with you. Our Democratic Party County Chair, Bill James and Michigan State Senator, Darrin Camilleri will be speaking at this event. We'll have all the supplies for sign making if you'd like to make one to take with you. If you'd like to carpool to the protest, we'll help facilitate those who'd like to ride together and stick together during the protest. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]

When people stand on the corner with their kids, waiting for a school bus, there’s no ICE in the area. Otherwise they’d wait indoors until the bus is idling at the corner—then they dash out, get kids on the bus, dash back inside.

Before anyone jumps in the comments to say “you should do x or y”, please think how you would organize 40 people you don’t know to do a job that none of them are trained for using only the most rudimentary tools.

Here’s another thread on “why aren’t Americans doing anything?” It reflects my personal experience, which may or may not ring true for other folks with boots on the ground.

Organizing is hard.

Several months ago, interested folks began using Signal to form groups for ICE watch.

Some groups grew rapidly, some very slowly.

Months later, the big groups aren’t effective, mostly likely aren’t even secure. I left those groups.
