Hello fellow hams - what are your favourite YSF rooms to stay on, lurk and listen? It could be fun to have a common room for fedi fellows :D

lore: i bought Yaesu FT5D for aprs functionality, but recently grown up to not hate on internet-based HAMing on that particular matter and bought a mmdvm hotspot - now i want to get some inspiration

Not the greatest soldering on the headers on the Pi Zero 2 W but should do the job. This setup will be running #WPSD by #W0CHP and setup as mini repeater with #FreeDMR with #DMR2YSF cross-over.

Well this evening I had a really good chat to friend in Germany via a #YSF reflector in the UK, and I was doing #DMR2YSF cross-over at my end and it worked really well, it was my first really world test for a #QSO of 30min plus with no real dropouts or distortion etc.

Very happy with my #W0CHP #PiStar #Dash doing the hard work of coverting DMR TG to YSF reflector as there was no real transcoding done as DMR & YSF use the same vocoder.

My lunch box #MMDVM hat has had added 3.5" #Nextion enhanced display to the lid, also added a 24V fan for air circulation. The power to all this is via a 12V to 5V buck converter and the fan is connected to the 12V input to that, and the Pi and MMDVM Dual at is connected to the USB socket with short cable.

Also has room to have a battery bank to be add to it in the future if needed

Well I have had a chance to play around with #W0CHP #PiStar Dash and it rather nice. I have #FreeDMR and #DMR2YSF cross-over running in both directions, it also seems to have fixed couple other annoyances I was having.

So will see how we going over the next month or so with it.

Next on the list is to deal with the Aliexpress SHARI clone I have, just need to do backup on old install to add to the new microSDHC I have #hamvoip installed on.

Finally got off my arse and added #DMR2YSF to my #Pi-Star #hotspot, and it seems to working not to bad.

Seem traffic locally on the hotspot will go from dmr2ysf to dmr on the #Pride #Radio #Network but I can't hear anything going the opposite way ๐Ÿ˜ฟ

Anyways it been fun, it kept me off the streets and out the pub ๐Ÿ˜น

At some stage I really should do up another SDCard and checkout #W0CHP #PiStar #Dash

W0CHP-PiStar-Dash, or โ€œWPSDโ€, is a completely new kind of Pi-Star.

I don't think you can add reflectors to a Zone on the Anytone. Zones are for storing channels by their frequencies. Reflectors through a hotspot are effectively treated the same as Talkgroups. So if you wanted to connect to HUBnet (YSF 57727), you'd dial up TG 7057727 and your Pistar would know to connect via YSF, not DMR.

At least, that's my understanding of it. To be fair, I've only being using #DMR2YSF for a couple of weeks.

@gm4slv
Exactly this. Part of the reason I wanted to get #DMRGateway working on my #PiStar was to be able to use the #DMR2YSF gateway, and also have the option of including #FreeStar (and potentially others) as well.

I need to give #FediHams a try actually, so I've added TG 7073737 into my radio in preparation.

Spent this evening factory resetting my #PiStar as #DMRGateway just wasn't maintaining a connection for more than 3 minutes. It's all ginger peachy now though, thankfully.

I've now decided that I prefer #YSF over #DMR, which is ironic considering I don't possess a YSF rig, only DMR. Still, thanks to DMRGateway and #DMR2YSF, I now have a choice.

I love this hobby!
