Astronomen bestätigen potenzielle Biosignatur auf dem habitablen Exoplaneten K2-18b

Astronomen haben auf einem nahen #Exoplaneten das bisher stärkste Indiz für außerirdisches Leben gefunden. Die Gashülle der nur 124 Lichtjahre entfernten Wasserwelt K2-18b enthält das Molekül #Dimethylsulfid (#DMS) und/oder #Dimethyldisulfid (#DMDS), wie Messdaten des James-Webb-Teleskops bestätigen. Beide Moleküle gelten als #Biosignatur, weil sie auf der Erde nur von Organismen produziert werden – ein abiotischer Syntheseweg ist nicht bekannt.
