Safety board provides update on Delta airlines crash at Pearson airport | CBC News

It's still "too early" to draw conclusions about the cause of the Delta Air Lines plane crash at Toronto's Pearson Airport, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said Thursday in an update on its investigation as the one-year anniversary of the incident approaches.

Flight attendant says Delta put 'profits over safety' in Toronto crash | CBC News

A flight attendant awarded for her heroism after the Delta Air Lines crash in Toronto earlier this year is now suing the company, alleging it “cut corners on safety” and knowingly put passengers at risk. Vanessa Miles says she was badly injured and is seeking “at least” $75 million US in damages.

16 lawsuits allege "gross negligence and recklessness" by crew members, who were "inadequately trained and supervised" by Delta and its subsidiary.

and yet everyone who was on board survived, despite inversion and loss of significant parts of the aircraft, in a textbook-esque rescue. so i guess that means the lawyers are going after the pilots?

Facing 16 lawsuits for Toronto Pearson airport crash, Delta deflects blame | CBC News

Delta Air Lines denies it's entirely at fault for injuries sustained in the Feb. 17 upside-down crash at Toronto Pearson International Airport, according to a U.S. court filing reviewed by CBC News. At least 16 Canadian passengers allege in lawsuits they were injured.

@midacre @afarnham @bgrinter A Canadian equivalent to the FAA's Low Level Wind Shear Alert System (LLWAS) may not have helped much in the case of the Delta 4819 crash. LLWAS makes an alert for controllers that they tell pilots. In this case without LLWAS, ATC did give the pilots an alert about low level winds based on pilot reports & existing equipment. Maybe it could have shown if wind shear became worse, or not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-level_windshear_alert_system #9E4819 #DL4819 #aviation #pilot #avgeek #travel #weather

Toronto overturned plane video

Clearly hit hard and early. Loss of lift?

Addendum: From the comments on the youtube article, a few things of note. People that live there lined up landmarks from the video, and concluded that the plane did not touch down early. Apparently, the ADS-B data is not accurate enough. The winds were extremely strong and extremely gusting. The plane was not level before contact. The pilots may have been fighting those winds, especially a major gust. And then the gust died.

Delta CRJ-900 Crash Toronto - 17 Feb. 2025

Very glad to hear that everyone made it out from that crash landing yesterday at Toronto Pearson. Hoping the 2 people still in the hospital will have a quick recovery.

It's scary to think that it's been almost exactly 20 years since Air France Flight 358 went down at Pearson. Thankfully in both accidents, no lives were lost.

The odds of another aircraft holding short with a pilot recording the landing of #DL4819 …wow
