I think I'm gonna set up a separate account soon specifically for DJ posting, since I want to get moving on streaming along with uploading to and promoting my Mixcloud stuff and I don't want to spam my timeline here... only question is, which instance do I wanna set it up on? Going back and forth between mastodon.social for maximum visibility or ravenation.club because it's a large music-focused instance. Or maybe one of the big furry instances like meow.social or tech.lgbt? Idk. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

#Rekordbox runs in WINE now
WINE 11 just came out for Linux and for shits and giggles I tried installing Rekordbox to see what would happen and... it just... installed. And launches. Without error.

One step closer to being able to stream my DJ sets on #Twitch! I got #NowPlaying (a Windows app used to create a live track name overlay for OBS) to run on Linux via WINE - and with a little symlink magic, it even works with the Linux version of #Mixxx!
Gods I wish I had any sort of music production skills because I want an extended club mix of Above & Beyond and Oliver Smith's hauntingly beautiful tune from this summer, "Here Before", SO BAD omg

So now I'm giving Winboat a try... Kinda a last resort sort of thing because it requires you to install and run Docker (and doesn't set it up for you either) - all so it can just run a Windows VM for you lmao. At least it automates the Windows install!
The audio player part seems to work though, which is kinda weird! It also seems to want GPU acceleration too, but enabling the latest DXVK via Winetricks causes MIK to become very unstable. I tried Bottles to run it via Proton-GE but the prereqs wouldn't install.
I've gotten it to install in Wine 10.0 (it needs .NET Framework 4.7.2+ and Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2022) and added a file, but whatever method it uses to access the filesystem kicks out a null reference error, so I can't get it to analyze anything.
What I wouldn't give for Mixed In Key to either have a Linux-native version or at least one that will actually work through WINE...
