March 2016: My first Raspberry Pi for the #OpenAPS project.
So fing es damals an mit meinem DIY-Loopen. Ich hatte keine Ahnung von Technik, geschweige denn von Linux, die Anleitung war kurz, für mich im Wesentlichen unverständlich und alles andere als vollständig. Was ich aber im Überfluss besaß, waren der Wille und Ehrgeiz.

LOOPAVERSARY!
Vor 7 (in Worten: sieben!) Jahren lief mein #OpenAPS Loop die erste von drei Nächten in Folge durch.
Ich hatte den CareLink Stick mit einem Gummiband an meiner Pumpe befestigt (die BT-Verbindung von dem Ding ist grottenschlecht) und ein 3m langes USB-Verlängerungskabel vom Stick bis zum Raspberry Pi gelegt. Ich hatte nämlich noch keine Ahnung davon, wie man sich WLAN einrichtet, also lief ich in der ersten Zeit wie ein Kettenhund herum.

@derivadow The #DIYLoop #WeAreNotWaiting #DIYAPS efforts have been nothing short of amazing. I have been DIYLooping for years now and it has been life changing. Even the commercial tech is where it is because so many amazing people volunteered their time and brain power to create these DIY systems. I wrote a little about my own journey recently.
Update: Because this post has gotten a bit of attention, I wanted to clarify/point out one big thing. I was able to do all of this not just because of the hard work of volunteers who put this system together, but also because of the immense privelege I have as someone with excellent health insurance and a sizable household income. Sadly, technology like this is out of reach to many people living with type 1 diabetes due to lack of insurance and/or inability to afford out-of-pocket expenses.

ich bin Saskia, in der #WeAreNotWaiting Community auch bekannt als Frau Loop.
Ich nutze seit Mai 2016 einen #DIY #ClosedLoop, um damit meinen Typ-1-Diabetes #T1D einfacher zu handhaben. Seit Januar 2017 versuche ich - zumeist sehr erfolgreich - medizinisches Fachpersonal und andere Menschen mit #Diabetes für diese #DIYAPS zu begeistern.
Inzwischen gibt es endlich auch kommerzielle Systeme, die mE gerne noch reifen dürfen!
