Dear #dhpeople ,

I am helping a researcher in #philosophy of #aesthetics to download hundred of thousands of #art critical reviews for research purpose. Many of those reviews are on the online databasis #proquest which my university pays for us researchers to have access to.
However before diving into a head ache of #webscraping I am wondering if any of you has dealt with this databasis? What did you end up doing? Writing to them to ask? #Scraping? How? Any feedback? #digitalhumanities #dh #Histodon #fedihum #histodons #humanites_numeriques

Avant de me jeter tête baissée dans les APIs et webscraping, je me demande si c'est le genre de problème que l'un d'entre vous a déjà rencontré? Thank you #DHpeople, I took the suggestion of @tanquist and sent it to my researchers group. My reasons are: #wikimedia_commons looks flexible and may kill two birds in one stone: by directly storing all the images in a structured way publicly on a so popular platform the data will be more FAIR . However I see one technical obstacle: how do I annotate and point out part of a photo? There used to be https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Image-Annotator but it looks so outdated and impossible to make it work on my side!

What is your favorit tool for annotating photos? It is for a group of #linguist/ #archeologists / #historian that gather photos of old inscriptions on stones. They want to transcribe and write all type of metadata about the images.
#Tropy looks nice and is probably close to what they want. A shame it does not support #xml though, and has no #cloud solution. #DH #DigitalHumanities #humanitésnumériques #humanitenumeriques
