An Australian man has died in Bali. His son says he asked the Australian consulate for help, but the help came only after his father passed away. This has made people wonder if citizens get enough support when they are sick or in trouble in other countries.

Hey #Australia's #DFAT, I reckon this is at least 12 hours overdue, and given your Five Eyes inputs, perhaps much much mor overdue than that.

Travel Advice: #USA
Updated:18 June 2025
Latest update:
The Regime Leader in the USA has announced that he will kill the Regime Leader of Iran in due course. The Leader of the USA has called for Iran's "unconditional surrender".

This is effectively a declaration of war.

Consistent with our long-held policy, we recommend "Do Not Travel" to countries at war.

You know growing up in #australia. Taught critical thinking at school. Did #history at high school and having a passion for it I don’t think there was one time where I didn’t think and watch those #USA shows and think there was something very bad about the #USA. After working for #dfat in the early 90s and talking to guys who worked in #washingtondc these ‘fears’ did not abate. The #propaganda fed to us for decades from the USA with the help of our government and media made many Australians complacent, believing an #americandream that most Americans don’t live. We are innocent and easily led. It is good to see people are starting to move away from it but it is weird having them telling me something I’ve noticed for years. As a reminder don’t go to the USA and don’t let your kids. There are so many wonderful places to visit on this planet the USA isn’t one of them.

The US is literally Interrogating, Strip Searching, Forcing into Cold Showers, Illegally Detaining, putting into Cuffs & Detention Camps and "Disappearing" travelers now, and yet #DFAT here in Australia still says "Yeah it's fine, Travel advice for the US remains 'Green' and 'Safe'" ... WTAF?!!!

If #DFAT was serious about its travel advisory for the USA from now on.

@CStamp @ai6yr

At the very least Australia's #DFAT will have to upgrade its travel advisory for the US, not just for epidemics but greater dangers for women and LGBTQI+ people.

@fixatedpersonsunit

Another major #AustralianPublicService #APS failure on #Abbott / #Turnbull / #Morrison watches.

#EthicalBankruptcy was evident many years prior.

Friend meets with #DFAT Australia's Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade and asks for action against a smaller #Genocide occuring in S.E. Asia.
Public servant asks, "How will us taking action improve trade?".
With there being no prospects of improvements in trade forthcoming the meeting was terminated.

Been building for years.

@kcarruthers And yet #DFAT’s advice to travellers to the USA is still ‘Exercise normal safety precautions’?
