Tip of the day: “How can I use generative AI effectively?” — “How do I write a good prompt?“ — As people explore accessing external AI in #DEVONthink, questions arise about how to use it. Here we show you two helpful resources about using AI. #artificialintelligence #courses #pkm #productivity #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20250617-where-to-learn-about-ai
Tip of the day: Documents in #DEVONthink are often linked or related to each other in some way, forming a network of information. To visualize these connections, #DEVONthink 4 offers a Graph view. Here is a brief introduction. #documentlinking #pkm #productivity #tipoftheday #zettelkasten https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20260210-graph-view-devonthink
Tip of the day: If you want to use AI in #DEVONthink, you can choose between server-based and local models. Whether it’s for privacy reasons or just the novelty, running AI locally on your Mac may be something you’re considering. But how does that work and what options are available? #artificialintelligence #pkm #privacy #productivity #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20251111-local-ai-devonthink
Tip of the day: For some sync-related errors or when needing to modify an encryption key in #DEVONthink or #DEVONthinkToGo, cleaning the sync data may be required. Here we show you, how to properly do this. #pkm #productivity #sync #tipoftheday #troubleshooting https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20241008-clean-sync-location
Tip of the day: #DEVONthink and #DEVONthinkToGo do not automatically sync by default because we believe that you should decide for yourself whether and what you want to sync. Here are things to consider when setting up the sync. #pkm #productivity #sync #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20260310-sync-checklist-devonthink

Tip of the day: Making connections between documents is an important aspect of researching a topic and linking information. #DEVONthink offers several ways to do this, including Mentions. Here we show you how to use them. #documentlinking #pkm #productivity #research #tipoftheday #workflow https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20250218-devonthink-mentions
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a mechanism that allows AI assistants to communicate with apps to accomplish tasks for you. On macOS Sequoia and later, DEVONthink now has its own MCP support built-in that lets your preferred AI agent access and work with your databases. #devonthink #mcp #artificialintelligence #automation https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20260526-devonthink-mcp-server

It's quite nice that #DEVONthink shipped their own MCP now. The previous community one was pretty limited (functional...but not great). The new supported version has 59 tools and a nice integrated installation path

I had to do a little trickery to get other machines on the network to read from it, but not bad in the end. it's much nicer to simply expose an IP and a port instead of needing every machine to have it's own MCP copy

Tip of the day: Various types of documents can contain links, for example a saved web page, or a note with an URL or an email address. In #DEVONthink you don’t have to search your document by hand for them because there is an inspector just for this. Here is, how that works. #notetaking #pkm #productivity #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20240625-links-inspector-devonthink
