I compagni di band piangono la scomparsa del collega e amico: “Oltre a un grande musicista, perdiamo un amico e un compagno di viaggio, con cui abbiamo condiviso musica e momenti importanti del nostro percorso. In questo momento di grande tristezza ci stringiamo alla sua famiglia e a tutte le persone che gli hanno voluto bene”.
Chi era Walter Martino
Walter Martino è morto il 7 marzo all’ospedale di Livorno. Nato a Milano il 18 aprile 1953, era figlio di Bruno Martino, pianista, cantante e compositore, crooner dalla voce inconfondibile, famoso in Italia negli anni ’50 e ’60 e molto apprezzato nel mondo jazzistico internazionale per aver composto “Estate”, unico brano italiano ad essere inserito nel “Real Book”, il libro degli standards jazz mondiali.
Walter Martino ha fatto parte di importanti gruppi storici del rock italiano come Il Ritratto di Dorian Gray, Seconda generazione, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. Ha composto con i Goblin la colonna sonora del film di Dario Argento “Profondo Rosso” nel 1975, mentre tre anni dopo ha scritto con i Libra le musiche di “Shock”, ultimo film di Mario Bava.

Walter Martino, a musician and co-founder of the Goblin band, has died. The band announced his sudden passing on social media.

“With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Walter Martino, drummer, co-founder of the Goblin and one of the composers of the soundtrack to Deep Red,” the note shared online reads. “Walter was a fundamental figure in the history of the band and the music that accompanied some of the most iconic pages of Italian cinema. His talent, musical sensitivity, and creative spirit contributed decisively to defining the sound of the Goblin.” The bandmates mourn the loss of their colleague and friend: “Besides a great musician, we lose a friend and travel companion, with whom we shared music and important moments of our journey. In this moment of great sadness, we embrace his family and all the people who loved him.”

Walter Martino died on March 7th at the Livorno hospital. Born in Milan on April 18, 1953, he was the son of Bruno Martino, a pianist, singer, and composer, an Italian crooner with an unmistakable voice, famous in Italy in the 1950s and 60s and highly appreciated in the international jazz world for composing “Estate,” the only Italian track included in the “Real Book,” the book of worldwide jazz standards.

Walter Martino was part of important historical Italian rock groups such as Dorian Gray’s Portrait, Second Generation, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. He composed with the Goblin the soundtrack to Dario Argento’s film “Deep Red” in 1975, while three years later he wrote the music for “Shock,” Mario Bava’s final film, with the Libra.

“Soffrivo di dismorfofobia, mi vedevo brutta e sbagliata“. Anna Lou Castoldi si racconta sulle pagine de “La Stampa”. La figlia di Asia Argento e Morgan torna con la memoria al periodo dell’adolescenza, complicato non solo per lei ma per molte persone. “Scopri sentimenti diversi: cambiamenti fisici, paura di crescere, insicurezze” spiega, “Poi fortunatamente i problemi di superano. Dopo 13 anni di terapia ora mi accetto per come sono”.
Il rapporto con i social
Anche per questo ha deciso di dosare il suo rapporto con i social: “Il problema è che sono fatti apposta per renderci dipendenti” fa sapere, “Così ho deciso di starne lontana: ho un mio account Instagram dove condivido solo la mia arte e gli aspetti lavorativi. Non monetizzo me stessa. E poiché non voglio esserne dipendente, lascio senza problemi il telefono spento o a casa anche per giorni”.
L’amore per il nonno, Dario Argento
Quando parla dei propri affetti, la 24enne restituisce un’immagine di suo nonno Dario Argento che può sorprendere chi è abituato a pensarlo solo come il genio dell’horror. “Un gran simpatico” dice lei. “L’amore del nonno è indescrivibile. Se ho un problema o una curiosità è anche a lui che mi rivolgo. Non ci si crede: ma è un nonno classico”.
Con una mamma attrice e un padre musicista, Anna Lou ha sperimentato entrambi gli ambiti, ma al momento a vincere è la passione per la musica: “Faccio la dj e mi piace molto suonare la mia musica davanti a un pubblico” racconta ancora. “Mi sto concentrando su questo aspetto: studio produzione elettronica. Una musica, però, che non ha nulla a che fare con quella di papà, che si muove decisamente fuori dalle sue orme”.

I believe this is the fourth time I’ve watched this film, but the first time watching the Creepers version.

While it’s still good, the cut version just makes me appreciate the full version even more.
