#Cyteen #TheLockedTomb
Downbelow Station was the first that I read and by #Cherryh. It blew me away and I’ve read pretty much everything but her fantasy since. It earned its Hugo.
#Cyteen is also excellent, but will spoil Downbelow Station so I don’t recommend it as the starting point.
Even her standalone quasi-horror books from the 70s (Port Eternity and Hunter in Night) are marvellous.
#iam reading
I finished the first volume in #Cyteen .
Thanks to all who recommended it.
I have a copy of the full trilogy on the way, so I can give No. 1, "The Betrayal" to my SIL and get him hooked, too.
Reading John Yorke's "Into the Wood", while I wait, with Greta Thunberg's "The Climate Book" yelling "coward" at me from the sidelines - I want to dive in and read it, but I'm afraid to.
I cannot remember who recommended #CJCherryh , and specifically #Cyteen several days/a week ago, and I can't find you scrolling back (I wish we could search our stream).
I owe you a huge thanks, person! I'm halfway through Cyteen, and totally hooked.
C J Cherryh, #Cyteen. Also the #Chanur books, Serpent's Reach, Downbelow Station, Foreigner, Alliance Rising, Cuckoo's Egg. (All of her Alliance-Union books are in the same universe, just...not obviously so.) Some of her books have been translated and you'll be able to find French-language versions, others have not.
Must say "hey" because I just added #cjcherry to my profile, and turns out you are the only one talking about her today, which is something that ought to change. Love #downbelowstation and #cyteen, but recently reread #serpentsreach and thought it was a story for these times.
