I was in an unnecessarily hyperbolic mood when I wrote this. I still maintain that black isn't a safe colour to wear in low viz situations. Hi viz, much like wearing helmets, isn't a guarantee either. The use of both, does help tilt the safety probabilities somewhat higher in a cyclist's favour, hopefully.

Also, buying cycling gear might be men's opportunity to understand women's frustration with not having pockets.
