When my cycling club arrived at a cafe, the queue for coffee was too long (we caused that!). I headed to the ice-cream hut.
I have never tasted rhubarb crumble ice-cream before. It's good. Very good. Jolly Nice is the name of the cafe, which also describes the ice-cream pretty well.

"My life's a vain pursuit of meaningless miles"
Today's cycling club ride had a few more incidents than usual.
1. Bottles jettisoned into the road when someone cycled through a pothole that was not signalled by riders in front.
2. Shimano Di2 (electronic shifting) front derailleur stopped working. Cue lots of unsympathetic but friendly comments from others in the group with mechanical shifting bikes. It didn't bode well when I heard "But I charged it last week" followed but a group looking at an app on a phone for a long time.
3. Shimano Hollowtech II crank (left side) fell off. Never a good sign! Seemed to end well after a repair, although the general condition didn't look great.
My cycling club has a community event this Friday (27th June).
Friday Night Hot Laps takes place at Pittville Park, Cheltenham.
From 6pm, test your skills on the course for fun. At 7pm, a timed 'hot lap'. How quickly you can you ride the course?
Events for children (age 8+) and the not so young. Use any bike.

Bristol CX is a small, informal cycling club in the UK whose members race cyclo-cross.
We usually compete in the #WesternLeague and occasionally #WessexLeague, #NationalTrophy and Three Peaks Race (#3PCX).
We also organise races, most recently at Upton Cheyney between Bristol and Bath.
We’re looking forward to joining everyone here and especially any other cycling clubs out there.
