I wish we had cycle racks like this every corner of the city...

#CycleParkingAudit is a thing that's not addressed here. As much as drivers complain about how hard it is to find (free or subsidized) street parking, there's even less accessible public cycle parking.

She refers to "just pull on up", but she's not really giving a lot of thought to wheelchair accessibility and other concerns of where she's parking the cargo bike. Furthermore, if more people adopt cargo bikes (which would be a good thing), there'd be even less available and the

@annehargreaves @cycling_on_rails Just to expand who folks think of as folks in the disability community, that includes dwarf/LP folks. So flexibility for different heights is included in needing to design for accessibility.

It's why efforts to include disabled ppl aren't satisfied by "one wheelchair user". It's a very diverse community.

Of course abled people who are also short would also benefit from accessible design.

@cycling_on_rails I agree that it's a good amount of space to dedicate to cycles (yet allows flexibility for other uses).

I think ultimately it doesn't just need to be horizontal, but there has to be a width-adjustable system so that trikes and "odd-shaped" bikes can get in there. I'd say "quad", but I suspect the door of the car wouldn't allow one.

There should be a design that's adjustable, which would allow for the variety of cycle frames ppl, including disabled ppl, ride #CycleParkingAudit

@cycling_on_rails I agree it's better than average, but I also want to point out (so we can ask for a better ideal) that vertical isn't just inconvenient...it's inaccessible to many disabled cyclists like me.

We really need to involve disabled cyclists & designers in a confab to design the best compromise design for cycle parking on transit that we can come up with.

@ascentale @DemonHusky @bikenite A2: I rarely bike out of my way to eat out, if ever. This one, Watershed Pub in the Northgate neighbourhood of Seattle, isn't directly on my typical bike routes, but they have decent food, good atmosphere and relatively good cycle racks. The first picture shows our bikes locked to the guard rail, but that's because the racks, shown in the second picture, were completely full.

Another example of how wimpy macho US sports fans are with their lack of cycling and cycle infrastructure at games... Here's a look at (inaccessible) cycle racks just outside the stadium as fans are leaving a match above the Arctic Circle. #FrostPendeln #BikeTooter #CycleParkingAudit

This is a good cycle rack, but its placement leaves a lot to be desired. Here, my friend and I had to position our bikes like this to be able to lock both on it simultaneously.
