In our International Women’s Day interview with Roselle Safran, CEO and Founder of KeyCaliber, we discuss mission-driven cybersecurity and leadership.

“The leader of the organization (i.e., CEO/President/Executive Director) must make it clear that security is a priority. The tone at the top matters.”

On International Women’s Day, we spoke with Gadalia Montoya Weinberg O'Bryan, Founder and CEO of Dapple Security, about identity security, mentorship, and the myth of “buying” cybersecurity.

“Cybersecurity cannot be treated like insurance, where protection is simply purchased through annual premiums.”

Key insights:
• Biometrics can offer strong authentication and convenient access
• Organizational policy often lags behind technology
• Security systems should protect users without making access difficult

Most leaders don’t lack information.

They lack signal.

Filtering noise is a leadership skill, not a preference.

Know your priorties and use them as your first filter.

Cybersecurity strategy is maturing, and CIOs & CISOs are being forced to mature with it.

Today I participated in SecurityWeek’s CISO Forum 2026 Outlook: Proactive Resilience, a strong discussion on moving security programs from reactive defense to intentional, business-aligned resilience.

What stood out for me:
🔐 Security must be explicitly tied to business outcomes — not just risk reduction
📊 Threat intelligence and attack surface management need to work together, not in silos
⚖️ Regulation and geopolitics are now first-order design constraints, not afterthoughts
🤖 AI helps — but only when paired with sound governance and judgment

Refreshing to hear CISOs and practitioners speak candidly about what actually works versus what just demos well. Kudos to SecurityWeek for convening a thoughtful, practitioner-driven conversation.

Drift isn’t random.

It’s information.

Small delays. Small exceptions.

Leaders who notice it early save themselves work later.

Decisions rarely fail all at once.

They compound quietly, one choice at a time.

The standard you set today shows up later.

Risk rarely arrives as a crisis.
It arrives as drift.

Small compromises. Delayed decisions. Silence when something feels off.

Leaders notice drift early. That’s the job.
