One of our members collected some old wooden boards and crafted a cherry end grain cutting board from them. It took time, patience and a fair amount of effort, but the result turned out better than expected.

Join Matt Burke for this fun journey into making personalized pieces with our laser cutter.
Students will start in our #woodshop, learning how to prepare a pre-cut board or live edge slab from a selection of options. Pieces will be cut to size and ready to finish plane, sand and prepare for laser engraving.
Students will then take their prepared board to our #LaserCutter and learn how to engrave a family recipe on the surface.
To make sure we have enough time to complete your projects in class, please submit your recipe ahead so MAXT staff can pre-process your laser cut file."

I invite you to perform the following experiment:
1. Pull out your #plastic cutting board.
2. Run a bit of water on it, to get it wet.
3. Draw your knife along the cutting board once or twice, as though scraping minced vegetables onto a plate.
4. Examine the side of your wet knife.
If yours is anything like mine, you'll see a bunch of tiny plastic crap you've probably been eating for years.
