Sit-in at the TiU Dies Natalis Ceremony

Tilburg University (Cobbenhagen building aula), donderdag 20 november om 14:45 CET

(English below)

-----

Let's support our students in their fight for Tilburg University to break its chains with the genocidal state of Israël. Coming Thursday instead of the weekly sit-in at the station we will be joining PST (the Tilburg student collective for solidarity with Palestine) at the University where they will be holding a sit-in at a university event.

The sit-in will start at 14:45 outside the Cobbenhagen building aula.

Please meet us there and bring as many people as you can.

Note: The sit-in at the train station will not be taking place.

It is important we support our students in their struggle against the university's unwillingness to break ties with Israeli institutions. Israeli universities play a huge roll in their genocide of the Palestinian people.

This document from the
Climate Council has really good, concrete steps that people can take to help community groups, sports and arts organisation move away from fossil fuel sponsorship.
It can be awkward but we need to have these conversations.

I'm in the habit of checking if orgs I work with have fossil fuel sponsors - there can be surprises. Orgs often list their "partners" online but
350 Australia also have an interactive list that you can check. Searching by state or sector can narrow it down to orgs most relevant to you.

If you find that an organisation you are involved in does have fossil fuel sponsors the Climate Council have some great suggestions on page 31 on how to address this.

And if an organisation doesn't accept fossil fuel sponsorship, you can encourage them to take a pledge and be counted on team right side of history.
