Last Words on the #Yowie - #Australia's
#Phantom #CryptidApe
Last month, Tony Healy and Paul Cropper launched their fourth book, The Yowie File: Encounters with Australian Ape-men. It’s a companion volume to The Yowie (Anomalist Books, 2006) with many more historical cases and a stack of additional modern era reports. It is available in hardback, softcover and e-book.
An entire chapter to #Indigenous Yowie #Folklore, showing that many, if not most, #AboriginalPeople, from Cape York Peninsula right down the east coast to Victoria, across to South Australia, Western Australia and up to the Northern Territory, strongly believe in the existence of hair-covered, man-like or ape-like creatures. Their many cultures have different terms for them – doolagarl, thoolagarl, nooncoonah, jimbra, tjangara, puttikan and jurrawarra, to name but a few.
Cropper's 40-year search for an explanation for stories and reports, that include folklore, reportage from Australia's colonial era (1788-1900), to the present has had him reinterpreting the sightings phenomena and the #HighStrangeness #Anomalies. He has viewed and attempted to understand the Yowie reports in the context of #CryptidEncounters, Parapsychology, and Folklore & #FolkMemory.
