South Africa water crisis: Taps dry in Johannesburg

Thousands of South Africans are lining up for water as the country’s largest city, Johannesburg, confronts an unprecedented collapse of its water system affecting millions of people. Here's a follow up to my Boston public transit adventures from yesterday. Been waiting for CT2 for an hour this morning in pouring rain. Two 'scheduled' buses straight up didn't show. What a shitshow.

I can see how massive Si valley gig-job grifts like uber and lyft would thrive in such an urban setting.

It is July 2023 now and the commute is about 1h15m to 1h30m. Some reasons, as I have come to understand them over the past year :
1. Crumbling public transport infrastructure
2. Lack of any sort of public protest
3. The unwillingness of the local press to cover this story
