Wow, this is kind of a hard one. I was a fan of a lot of artists before this one, but this is the first band I remember a specific song that got me hooked. They're also my favorite band to this day.

It was maybe 2005. I was in college, and I had gotten to class early one day so I was sitting in the hallway outside the classroom. Someone walked by handing out sample CDs with 3 Carbon Leaf songs: Life Less Ordinary, The Boxer, and American Tale. They were free, so I took one. When I listened to it later, I was sold from the first track.
