@madcollector Absolutely wild update. 🤯 Not only are the jewels priceless, but the French Ministry of Culture has confirmed they are NOT privately insured.

France practices "self-insurance" for national treasures, meaning there will be zero payout for the estimated €88M market value. All hope is on a recovery before the stones are broken up.

Fun Fact: The thieves left the gallery's biggest showpiece, the 140-carat Regent Diamond (which was set in Napoleon's sword), completely untouched. It was in the same room and remains safe. #LouvreHeist #ArtLoss #CrownJewels
