By donning the “public safety” hat, the major media is in effect deputizing itself as a branch of the national security state… The government then plays favorites by leaking to news media reporters who act as compliant deputies, those who parrot whatever the government line is. The end result is a manifesto that half a dozen major media outlets have but not a single one is willing to publish.

Jeff Bezos' Washington Post prints a bootlicking editorial shaming people for dunking on an assassinated mass murderer, deploys the "policies you dislike" trope. what a shock #CrisisInJournalism
it’s really telling how almost none of the mainstream #LegacyMedia outlets will print a single fucking word about the shit Brian Thompson and UnitedHealthcare did to thousands of Americans. #CrisisInJournalism

Washington Post will no longer endorse candidates for president, publisher says

The Washington Post is done endorsing presidential candidates, publisher Will Lewis said Friday, a decision that breaks decades of tradition and was immediately rebuked by famed former top editor Marty Baron as “cowardice,” casting the paper’s newsroom into chaos and prompting at least one resignation.

In a statement, the newspaper’s union attributed the decision to billionaire owner Jeff Bezos, and said the move “undercuts the work of our members at a time when we should be building our readers’ trust, not losing it.”

A person close to the decision granted anonymity to discuss it told POLITICO that the decision was made within the Post, and did not come from Bezos.
