February 26 marks Ukraine’s Day of Resistance to the Occupation of #Crimea and Sevastopol, commemorating the 2014 pro-Ukraine protests against russia’s invasion.
Since then, russia has silenced dissent through arrests, targeting activists, journalists, and even social media users. #Ukraine honours those who resisted - and still resist - while documenting abuses and seeking international support for political prisoners.
Today, #Ukraine honours the Day of Resistance to Crimea’s Occupation, marking 12 years since russia’s invasion began.
In 2014, Crimeans and Crimean Tatars bravely resisted despite repression. Political prisoners still endure inhumane condition - all must be freed.
On 9 December 1917, the First Kurultay of the Crimean Tatar People convened in Bakhchisarai, launching the modern Crimean Tatar national movement and proclaiming the Crimean People’s Republic.
The Kurultay became the highest representative body of Crimean Tatars. Its legacy remains central today amid Russia’s occupation of Crimea and the ongoing persecution of Crimean Tatars.

Ukraine sanctions the invader fuel depot in Feodosia Ukraine, occupied Crimea. The russian occupiers try, and fail, to take down an incoming drone with anti-aircraft fire.
The soothing sounds of the ocean create a peaceful feeling while watching the invader's fuel go up in smoke.
There can be no negotiations without Crimea. Their voices must be heard.
The Yellow Ribbon movement in Bakhchisaray, Sevastopol, and Yevpatoria shows they are waiting for Ukraine.
Through ribbons, posters, and graffiti, they declare #CrimeaisUkraine.
