How's this for a dick move from a domain registrar...

They've decided to create extra work for me by automatically adding to my account another domain I didn't ask for, and don't want.

And sent the notification from an email address I cannot reply to.

I am now accepting recommendations for where to register my .com.au domain that won't waste my time and energy.

#DomainNames #CrazyDomains

Thinking it might be a good idea to move my domain registrations away from crazydomains. They still act as if an SMS is effecetive 2FA.

#CrazyDomains #CrazySecurityPolicy

Never ever use #CrazyDomains for hosting or domains in #webdev.

After they screwed up the hosting randomly without notifying me, I moved the hosting and kept the domain with them. Let it expire and for the past three months I get spammed every second day about renewing it.

Then just had them call on Anzac day to ask for more money/renew it..

They are desperate and the worst relationship type..

"โ€ฆtry to choose some more local, ethical, small #DomainRegistrar instead of going to big business ones" suggested @disroot.

So I switched my #DomainName from the case study in #enshittification that is #CrazyDomains to https://metaname.net

(basically, just copying @lightweight)

domain name services - Metaname

Metaname is a domain name registrar offering volume pricing for .nz, .com and other TLDs. We offer DNSSEC, full IPv6 support, APIs, monthly billing and more.

@joepie91 @kelbot @freakazoid #Consolidation and #enshittification has been happening all over the #WebHosting and #domain market. For example, all of the following are just brands of #NewfoldDigital:

#Bluehost
Web.com
#NetworkSolutions (original pre-#ICANN gTLD monopoly)
#HostGator (where I worked)
Register.com
Domain.com
#CrazyDomains
#Markmonitor
#ResellerClub
#iPage
#BigRock
#SiteBuilder
#Vodien
#Yoast
#Yith
#BuyDomains

Like, imagine selling an "Unlimited Email" hosting service to someone where they can supposedly have an unlimited number of email accounts, and an unlimited amount of storage SO LONG AS NO MORE THAN 100,000 inodes are consumed on the backend. Well, there's no need to imagine that, I guess - that's what you get if you buy an "Unlimited Email Hosting" package from #CrazyDomains.
I was pleased to get my yearly renewal notice from #CrazyDomains today for my "Unlimited Email Plan", which, based on a very pissy conversation I had with their support team last month, is not Unlimited at all because while it's "unlimited email", it's not "unlimited inodes". So with that blatantly inappropriate plan name, I'm switching away from them before the renewal is up. I don't stay with companies that behave like that.
Well that's it for me for #CrazyDomains. "Unlimited Email" plan. Except, they contact me today to say "your service can't exceed 100,000 inodes. It's all unlimited for email BUT we do limits on the inode count". FFS, outright deceptive conduct IMHO.

@kev
Wow. You've got a complicated setup. ๐Ÿ˜ถ #NotATechie

I used to have Namecheap as my #webhost. Got sick of them and now my webhost is #CrazyDomains. I think they're Australian. My needs are simple, so I can't say if they'll meet your needs. I got their cheapest plan -- which is more than enough for li'l me.

No complaints so far. Oh, and they helped me make the move too. ๐Ÿ‘
