seems fine:

"Pfizer and BioNTech have decided to halt a large US trial of their updated COVID-19 vaccine in healthy adults aged 50 to 64, after failing to find enough people willing to take part in it"

"The U.S. has exited the 12th wave of COVID-19. Transmission remains risky in absolute terms; however, levels are lower nationally than any time in the past year."

Only* about 2 million new cases of Covid in the past week in the US, between about 100,000 and 400,000 new Long covid cases from the past week's infections, about 500-900 new excess deaths.

*yes this is still a lot; sarcasm are us.

But relatively, it's a good time to get dental care, do those other risky things you need to do.

Pandemic Mitigation Collaborative - COVID-19 Data Dashboard

This is cool: a self-managed, independent group of volunteers who are committed to reducing airborne risks. And it has this parakeet as its mascot — which is what caught my eye and made me want to know more.

The group will distribute free masks, have air filters available on loan, and more.

Elephant in the elevator: "address me."

Ok, buckle up. Here's the pitch:

#CovidIsNotOver. Not only is it extraordinarily vaccine-evasive, it is neuroinvasive, thrombogenic, oncogenic, immune-dysregulating, and telomere-shortening. The overall health burden of the pandemic shifted from acute to chronic, and because our society was already really good at pretending that chronic illness doesn't exist, we also pretend that this problem doesn't exist. The damage from cumulative infections is, in turn, cumulative, making all covid long covid on a long enough timeline. There was never a normal to return to, and all attempts to shame people who are still trying to protect themselves (and their communities, but who are we kidding) -- by wearing respirator masks in public, like Violet Affleck -- are part of a consent-manufacturing process that favors billionaire wealth over public health.

My wife and I had COVID shots yesterday, in preparation for some upcoming travel. Feeling a bit achey and might just nap most of this afternoon. Although I never need an excuse to nap.

Some information from Force of Infection on the latest Covid variant “Cicada” BA.3.2.

(Force of Infection is in the process of moving off substack to their own site.)

The chart in this article shows the evolutionary paths, with labels for the variants with vaccines. We’re back on a new/old path of Omicron.

I have concerns that going back to an older evolutionary line will bring back a higher percentage of Long Covid (not that it had decreased much, but I read that the previous newer variants had slightly lower percentages).

The "Cicada" Variant: What We Know

Here is what we know about a new Covid-19 variant in the headlines, nicknamed 'cicada'.

Coworker shares that a relative had a stroke a few weeks ago. “Super healthy”, ate only organic food, etc.

A second relative of the coworker recently had a stroke and died.

The coworker laments that it’s been a bad couple of years for “medical stuff”. They’ve personally been dealing with a bunch of things I won’t get into.

Is it *because of* #COVID? Of course we’ll never know for sure. But maybe it should be worth considering? And more importantly, taking any action at all to avoid? But they’d rather blame the vaccine.
