Many who understand basic maths and the scientific method were pointing out the need for early infection control measures, and subsequently the enormous importance of early lock-down, including myself.

We knew this, and some in government clearly knew this but chose to sit tight and let tens of thousands die rather than... what? Lose their jobs? Who knows.

What the #CovidEnquiry lacks is accountability for criminal responsibility, malfeasance and misconduct in public office.

‘Too little, too late’: UK’s Covid response

Remember the chaos in March 2020? Other European countries were in lockdown but Johnson said the #UK should take it on the chin. Advisers like Whitty, Edmunds & Vallance initially advocated herd immunity & nudge theory. 20,00 lives could have been saved if lockdown had happened a week earlier. Lockdown took place again because warnings were not heeded & kids lost out on school

Covid inquiry live updates: UK did 'too little, too late', leading to thousands more Covid deaths, says inquiry

The inquiry says an earlier lockdown could have saved 23,000 lives in the first wave in England - and lockdown could have been avoided altogether with earlier interventions.

BBC News

Jacinda Ardern, Chris Hipkins, Grant Robertson and Ayesha Verrall have all declined to appear before the second section of the Covid enquiry.

As this part of the "enquiry" is merely a performative piece designed to placate Winnie's cookers, that sounds like a fair call.

@mackayim2022 for example this quote. “I resigned because I could not follow AHPRA’s mandated compliance with the narrative that the #COVIDvaccine is necessary safe and effective… #AHPRA needs to be bought under federal law so it cannot force health professionals to practice unsafely.”

What a load of nonsense yet here’s the #COVIDenquiry quoting it 🤦‍♂️

I am increasingly disappointed with this report.

Covid inquiry: Johnson & Hancock accused of making ‘false’ NHS claims.

‘Covid-19 Inquiry exposes a disease at the heart of it all
But it’s not enough to hold just a few people to account. This is a vile disease within the heart of corporate media that puts white, non disabled, straight, and well-off people before anyone else and uses its power to convince the public that anyone raising concerns is a threat to their way of life.’

It’s good that Hunt gets named for his disastrous management of the NHS. His recent role as “leading the recovery from Truss” really underplays how bad he’s been.

COVID Inquiry: Lessons on the importance of independent scientific advice

We must ensure the independence of scientific advisers from the politicians they advise.
