This week's Pandemics in BC post (no BC post because the province is only releasing data once per month):

This week's Pandemics in BC post:
General: https://covidbc.webfoot.com/2026/05/30/2026-02-29-general/

There's no BC-specific post this week because a) the province didn't release any new data and b) the flood of news about Bundibugyo, Andes Virus, and USA-administration-actions has swamped any stories specific to BC.

Someone in BC asked me if I thought they should get vaccinated now, in the Spring campaign.

I looked through my records, and in 2023, 2024, and 2025, the COVID levels peaked in BC in early-to-mid October and the fall vaccination campaign started in mid-to-late October. Meanwhile levels are extremely low (not gone, but low).

So if you get vaccinated right now, you'll have highest protection during a time of low levels, and it will have worn off by the time (if 2026 follows the previous three years' trends) when the levels peak.

Me, right now, I expect to try to get a vax in June or July (conditioned on how I see levels evolving, of course). (I'm not in one of the high-risk groups, so I don't know if I will be allowed to get a vax in BC.)
