You might've noticed that I have spammed you all with my #CountdownToEvilDeadRise so... this week's #LetterboxdFriday and #lastfourwatched can't be much of a surprise to anyone.

And tonight I finally get to see Evil Dead Rise. I can't wait. The countdown is over.

The last film in my #CountdownToEvilDeadRise and my jaw hurts after watching it.

Evil Dead (2013) is... EVIL. And I love it - even though most of the side characters are somewhat bland behind the fantastic Jane Levy.

Evil Dead Rise better not suck tomorrow.

A ★★★★ review of Evil Dead (2013)

Oh my God, the last film of THE COUNTDOWN to Evil Dead Rise! This is a reminder of how important a strong central performance is and Jane Levy brings it. First act she plays the victim, the 2nd act the villain and in the third act the hero and they are all stellar performances (yeah, I like to think of them as performances in plural). She is absolutely awesome, doing all kinds of horrible acts to herself and others. But therein lies the problem too... During the second act, when Mia is killing it as a deadite, the film have

The countdown to Evil Dead Rise keeps countdowning!

The Evil Dead is gory.
Evil Dead 2 is groovy.
Army of Darkness is flat out goofy.

Can't wait to rewatch the remake tomorrow, that one is... gnarly.

The continuation of THE COUNTDOWN to Evil Dead Rise... continues! Is this the most quotable film ever? Well, yes. I am not a big movie-quoter (shut up, it's a word) but I think I slip into this one whenever I get a drink in me. The one I use the most is the panicked skeleton muppet screaming: "Let's get the hell out of here!" (and I think I even tried to slip one into Kung Fury 2 but I don't know if I succeeded). Some days I even prefer this to Evil Dead 2 just because it is funnier and

I got my tickets to Evil Dead Rise on April 21 and the countdown to that gorious day continues.

Evil Dead 2 made me want to become a filmmaker (see my Letterboxd "review" for that old story) and it feels so surreal that I got to contribute to Evil Dead Rise. Friday can't come soon enough, the excitement is swallowing my soul!

So it continues, THE COUNTDOWN to Evil Dead Rise! There are two movies that changed me. E.T. made me a film nerd by the age of 5 when I wasn't allowed to see it in the cinema (the age limit in Sweden was 11) so I became obsessed with it, read all I could find about the little friendly alien and this guy named Steven Spielberg. I loved movies and still do. Evil Dead 2 made me want to make films. I was fooling around with my friends in school, acting as if my hand was possessed for some reason,

There haven't been a film franchise that meant as much to me as this one and I can't believe I got to contribute just a tiny little bit on the new one.

A ★★★★½ review of The Evil Dead (1981)

So it begins, THE COUNTDOWN to Evil Dead Rise, a countdown that feels like it will take my filmmaking full circle: going from the films that influenced me to to become a filmmaker (specifically Evil Dead 2) to actually having contributed to one. I am so excited and nervous. Thank God I can calm my nerves with the ultimate experience in grueling terror! Watching this really reminds me of being a young filmmaker, thinking: "I can do that! I just have to find equal-minded friends that I can torture." I saw Evil Dead 2 first and it blew me away,
